barrio glassworks is a public glassblowing studio and retail gallery located in the California Coastal town of Carlsbad. Situated in the historic Barrio community of Carlsbad Village, the studio and gallery provide a unique experience and environment for residents and visitors alike. The studio includes an open viewing section for the public, allowing an up close look at the mesmerizing art of glassblowing (no reservations required).

This one-day-only event invites you to explore downtown Carlsbad and search for one of 300 handblown glass hearts, beautifully crafted by Barrio Glassworks and hidden throughout the Village.

Originally created during the pandemic to inspire outdoor exploration and encourage people to return to downtown to support local businesses, this event has grown into a favorite for locals and visitors alike.

It’s more than just a hunt; it’s about enjoying the charm of Carlsbad Village and celebrating the community around you. It's about finding new retail shops to shop in and new restaurants and coffee shops to dine in.

If you’re lucky enough to find a heart, it’s yours to keep! If you register your treasure, you could win a free, private glassblowing experience at Barrio Glassworks and prizes from local businesses.

Seconds are part of the charm of buying something homemade.

Each participating artist will be at their own table, so in addition to finding great bargains, you'll be able to meet and chat with the artists. And there will be live glass blowing.
